Empowering Women: A Collaborative Effort by Ojodu LCDA and ECOWAS FEBWE Nigeria
On the 6th of March 2024, Ojodu Local Government Development Area and ECOWAS FEBWE Nigeria joined forces to host an empowering Women’s Day program. The event, aimed at promoting gender inclusion, women entrepreneurship, and awareness about the Africa Continental Free Trade Agreement (AFCFTA), provided a platform for impactful discussions and enlightenment sessions. The Women’s Day program commenced with insightful discussions on gender inclusion and women entrepreneurship. Participants were enlightened about the importance of training, packaging, and necessary registration processes, equipping them with the knowledge and resources needed to embark on their entrepreneurial journey with confidence.
Distinguished dignitaries graced the occasion, including Mrs. Abimbola Odunmbaku, Chairperson of Ojodu LCDA, and Alhaja Stella Kokumo, APC Chairman of Ojodu LCDA, Hon. Folayomi Soriola, Special Adviser on Budget & Planning Ojodu LCDA. Their presence underscored the commitment of local leadership to supporting women’s empowerment initiatives and fostering community development.
Princess Omotola Omole, President of ECOWAS FEBWE, and Hajia Bola Muse, Board Member, were instrumental in driving the agenda of gender equality and women’s economic empowerment forward. Their leadership and advocacy served as a catalyst for positive change, inspiring women to seize opportunities and realize their full potential.
Dr. Moshe Abiodun, Lagos State Coordinator of ECOWAS FEBWE, and Samara Gifty Bukari, representing the Ghana Consulate-General, shared valuable insights and experiences, highlighting the importance of regional collaboration in advancing women’s rights and economic empowerment.
The event also welcomed Koko Beatrice Kallay, representing the Sierra Leone Consulate-General, and other state coordinators and members of ECOWAS FEBWE. Their collective efforts underscored the spirit of solidarity and partnership in driving sustainable development and gender equality across borders.
