Empowering Women through Innovation: A Landmark Women’s Day Program and Techno-Entrepreneurship Training
In a continued effort to champion women’s empowerment and entrepreneurship across Nigeria and the broader West African region, Ojodu LCDA and ECOWAS FEBWE Nigeria marked International Women’s Day with a powerful program on March 6th, 2024. This event, focused on gender inclusion and entrepreneurship, set the stage for future initiatives aimed at equipping women with the skills and resources necessary to thrive in today’s competitive business environment. Building on the momentum of this celebration, ECOWAS FEBWE has now partnered with the Federal Institute Of Industrial Research Oshodi (FIRO) for a transformative 3-Day Techno-Entrepreneurship Training Program.
The International Women’s Day event, which took place in March, was a resounding success, bringing together distinguished guests and speakers who are at the forefront of promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment. The event featured insightful discussions on the importance of gender inclusion in business and provided attendees with valuable entrepreneurial insights. Prominent figures such as Mrs. Abimbola Odunmbaku, Alhaja Stella Kokumo, Princess Omotola Omole, and Samara Gifty Bukari, among others, graced the occasion. Their presence underscored the significance of the event, which received widespread media coverage on platforms including NEWS CENTRAL, ARISE TV, and TVC. This extensive reach highlights the growing commitment of women entrepreneurs to elevate their businesses and make a lasting impact on their communities.
Building on the success of the Women’s Day program, ECOWAS FEBWE has taken a bold step forward by collaborating with FIRO for a 3-Day Techno-Entrepreneurship Training Program, held from August 20th to 23rd, 2024. This program was designed to provide women entrepreneurs from the ECOWAS Federation with cutting-edge technological skills and entrepreneurial knowledge, vital for navigating the complexities of the modern business landscape. The opening ceremony was marked by the arrival and registration of participants, the welcome address, and a group photograph, setting a tone of collaboration and learning.
The training program was honored by the presence of several notable dignitaries, including Princess Omotola Omole, President of ECOWAS FEBWE, Dr. Moshe Abiodun, Lagos State Coordinator, Mrs. Tessy Jibodun, National Secretary, and Dr. Livinus Onu, PDD at FIRO. Other key figures included Mr. Lambert, G.S at FIRO, Dr. Ahmed Arokes of the CFET department, Dr. Lawal Kolawole, Dr. Adebukola, Dr. Olubunmi Ibidapo, Mrs. Comfort Aderele, Mrs. Oyevanji Samuel, and Ms. Unuigbe. Their participation not only lent credibility to the event but also highlighted the strong support network available to women entrepreneurs within the ECOWAS region.
