Additionally, Omole served as the Deputy National Coordinator of the Association of Nigerian Women Business Network (ANWBN), a member of the African Women in Leadership Organization (AWLO), and a member of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI).
The elevation of Princess Omotola Omole has garnered widespread commendation from FEBWE members both within and outside Nigeria. Her proactive approach and demonstrated leadership qualities have positioned her as a beacon for the advancement of women entrepreneurs in the region. FEBWE, founded by the Economic Community for West African States (ECOWAS) Commission in 2009, has continually worked towards the common interest of women entrepreneurs, fostering border transactions among ECOWAS countries to promote free cross-border trade.
The Nigeria Chapter of FEBWE was inaugurated on February 27, 2012, at Sheraton Hotels, Ikeja, with Mme Candide Leguede from Togo serving as the National President. The objectives of FEBWE include encouraging and developing the common interest of women entrepreneurs, promoting cross-border transactions within ECOWAS countries, and facilitating collaborations and partnerships between ECOWAS women entrepreneurs and their international counterparts. The late Iyalode Alaba Lawson played a pivotal role in initiating the Nigerian chapter, working closely with her counterparts in Benin Republic to facilitate free border trade across the Idiroko and Seme borders. Her efforts resulted in the signing of Memoranda of Understanding with Customs and Immigration Officials, fostering goodwill for cross-border transactions.
Princess Omotola Omole’s ascension to the presidency of FEBWE signals a new era for the organization. As she steps into her role, the expectations are high for her to build upon the foundation laid by her predecessor and further advance the interests of women entrepreneurs within the ECOWAS region. The vibrant history of FEBWE, from its inception in 2009 to the establishment of the Nigerian chapter in 2012, underscores the commitment to fostering collaboration, trade, and empowerment among women entrepreneurs. The legacy of the late Iyalode Alaba Lawson lives on as FEBWE continues its journey with renewed vigor under the capable leadership of Princess Omotola Omole.
