POPULARIZATION WORKSHOP FOR REGIONAL CIVIL SOCIETY ORGANISATIONS ON ECOWAS VISON 2050
A two day workshop organised in Sierra Leone on the 18th & 19th of June 2022.
The meeting was launched by the Vice President Ecowas Commission ,Her excellency ,Madam Finda Koroma . She stated the importance and role of Ecowas in focusing on human security. To achieve this ,Ecowas has put together integrated pillars which include peace ,security and governance ,rule of law and transformation. All of which is programed to include women ,youth and children.
The National President Febwe ,Nigeria Iyalode Alaba Lawson MfR,FioD, JP. was unavoidably absent however she was ably represented by the National Secretary Tessy Jibodu
The Vision 2050 statement – ” A fully integrated community of people, living in a peaceful and prosperous region, with strong institutions and respect for fundamental rights and freedom, striving for inclusive and sustainable development”
This year’s SLOGAN :
*ECOWAS OF THE PEOPLE ,PEACE AND PROSPERITY FOR ALL*.
Also present at the workshop was the minister of Planning and regional development of Sierra Leone,Dr Francis M. Kiakia who thanked the Vice president for her demonstrated leadership in the past towards the achievements of Ecowas while creating a lasting legacy project in the vision 2050.
A video showing the history of the Ecowas Commission and all it’s achievement was played which was followed by communication of strategies, development and studies which were conducted before developing the vision 2050 which was facilitated by the Commission .
Day 2 of the workshop was implementation of the pillars and working directly with the spiritual leaders ,traditional rulers ,civil society organisations ,media and private sector which FEBWE was part of .
Participants were grouped into four, where evaluation and monitoring on popularizing the Vision 2050 was documented.
Following this, recommendations and feedbacks were collated and documented to the Ecowas Commission which will be further used in achieving vision 2050 goals.
